Supermen of Malegaon: An "Eulogy"

The wonderful movie called "Supermen of Malegaon" endlessly charms you through its sharp wit and unintentional humor. Made on a low budget of Rs. 1 Lakh it is not a movie but the "Making" of the movie titled "Malegaon ka Superman". It carefully depicts the various problems that the director Shaikh Nasir faces in making the movie in the communally divided, low income town of Malegaon which is situated 300 km from Mumbai.

The movie depicts that talent and desire don't need big canvas to thrive upon. If you have a dream and an active will to pursue it, there is no necessity to make it large.

This is the inherent theme of the simple and sweet documentary which won several accolades in film festivals worldwide. The actor Shafiq Sheikh was battling throat cancer throughout the filming and died the next day after the special screening. He just lived enough to fulfil his dream to become a movie star.

You can watch the entire movie here.

iWrite

I write,
I always have,
I forever will...

Of unwritten sagas,
Lost in time,
Of moments captured,
In unforgiving memories...

I write,
To avoid being rot...

I write of things untold,
To me from myself...

Unintentional of getting carried away,
By the sway of words,
Of the glorified men,
Who hold a better pen than mine,
Or those whose words,
Breathe a better breath than mine...

I write not to gain acclaim,
From men,
Who make little difference,
To my tales...

I write to get used to writing,
Those unfortunate words,
Which shall pass,
The many stages of self criticism,
In an attempt to lose their glory,
To words of men,
More acclaimed than mine...

I don’t write,
To change the world,
It never will,
It always hath...

My feeble words hold no power,
To bring a change,
In the phenomenon,
Of truth and lies,
Which is captured often,
In many conspicuous words...

I write not,
To be written about,
I write to keep writing,
And to be lost,
Under unwritten sagas,
Of untold men...

So that my words,
May become immortal,
And shine like stars,
Among the more celebrated ones...

#this post is created as a solution for assignment for IT & Business Applications Lab, Spring Semester, VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur Class of 2014.

The data used is NSE Nifty data from 1st January 2012 to 31st January 2013

1. Create log of the returns data,  Use log returns and calculate the historical  volatility
2. Create ACF Plot for log returns and do the ADF test and analyse on it

Commands used are as follows with their explanations

The LOG values in the value z are as follows

Plot of Log returns

ACF Plot

Analysis : From the graph it is clear that most of  the standard errors are with in the confidence interval of 95%.Hence time series can be considered stationary.

Historical Value calculation

Augmented Dicky filler test

Analysis: Since p value is .01, (less than .05) null hypothesis can be rejected.Hence time series is stationary and data analysis can be done.

What else is a SHIP but a PRISON...

#poem written long back in 2003, after watching the movie Titanic

O’ See when the terrible tempest arose,
And the sea like a hungry lion roar.
To the peak of their power,
Waves tossing up and down.
Looking as if it were a meteor shower,
The people could see the waters frown.
Then came an iceberg in the middle,
Made a hole in one of its deck,
Due to which the whole ship got wrecked.
Lives were scared seeing the death by the side,
The fear of which they couldn't hide.
The anguish and pain of life in it,
The tempest invaded all of it.
Death laid its wreaths spread,
People were dead before their death.
No place to go, no  roads to tread,
As if life itself had become dead.
Each one thought but nothing else,
What else is a ship but a prison?
